Naming and managing big feelings
We use Kimochis and Respectful Relationships to support students to describe how they are feeling and to develop self-regulation techniques when they experience “big” emotions. Lessons are explicitly taught 2-3 times per week and the skills are used during interaction every day.
Students also complete a check-in each morning to provide staff with an understanding of challenges they may be facing each day, allowing us to provide an extra level of support if required.
