Kindergarten → Primary
Our Open Day and Information Session is held during Education Week (mid-May). These days are primarily designed for families with a child beginning their Foundation year the following year. However, all families seeking enrolment for the following year are encouraged to attend to learn about the programs and learning opportunities we can offer.
From mid to late November, weekly transition sessions commence. This begins with one morning per week and gradually increases to half-day transition by mid-December.
Girgarre Primary School has a strong relationship with Girgarre Kindergarten. Students regularly visit one another for events throughout the year, adding to an easy transition for your child.
Primary → Secondary
Girgarre Primary School offers a comprehensive transition program from primary to secondary school for our Year 6 students. Students in Year 6 participate in transition days from Term 3 onwards and complete several days of transition at their chosen secondary college.
Additional transition can be requested and is often prioritised for students moving from a small school like ours to a larger secondary school.
Information packs are available from the beginning of Term 2 for students commencing Year 7 the following year. These packs, and other important information, can be found on the Moving from primary to secondary school page of the Victorian Government website and are also available upon request from our school office.
